Volaire LARP is an NC-17 game. This means the setting may include mature, disturbing, or intense themes as part of the narrative. These elements exist to make the world feel grounded and consequential; they are story devices, not endorsements.

Examples may include (but are not limited to): murder, torture, kidnapping, mutilation, war, racial injustice, prejudice, starvation, disease, sexual misconduct, child death, suicide, and theft.

• These elements are not condoned Out-Of-Play.
• These elements are not physically acted out. Scenes that would be exploitative or unsafe are handled with implication or fade-to-black, not graphic re-enactment.
• NPCs will not perform sexual assault or similar acts in play. Such topics may exist only in backstory, records, or off-screen references.

If you are easily or adversely affected by these themes, participation may not be a good fit.
Mental health matters.
We respect players who manage real-world conditions and do not intend to alienate anyone. We also acknowledge these harsh themes reflect aspects of medieval life that inform the setting’s tone.

You always retain control over your involvement. If a scene becomes too much:

• Step away immediately. There are no penalties for removing yourself from a scene.
• Find a Game Manager or staff member for assistance or a cool-down space.
• Use clear OOP language if needed (e.g., “Out of Play: I need a break.”). Clarity beats subtlety when safety is at stake.

To keep play intense but safe, you can expect the following from our staff:

• Imply rather than simulate. Use narration, cutaways, and fade-to-black for potentially harmful material.
• Keep it on target. Use mature content to serve plot, not shock value.
• Respect boundaries—immediately. If anyone indicates discomfort, de-escalate or stop.

If you are uncomfortable with a scene, a theme, or another player’s conduct:

• Step out and notify a Game Manager as soon as practical.
• Provide what you can about who, what, where, when.
• We will address issues promptly, discreetly, and document outcomes.
• Retaliation for raising a concern is not tolerated.

Volaire aims for immersion with responsibility. The world may be brutal; the community is not. Take space when you need it. Ask for help when you want it. We will back you up.
